UI experiments pt. 1

This blog entry was ported from my gemsite, so it follows a slightly different format than I've been using here. The date on it is also wrong, but it's the date under which it was listed on my gemlog and I can't find an older one recorded anywhere.

I've seen a number of people make statements about what is or isn't possible with Gemini. As one who feels more may be possible with Gemini than one might think, I've begun writing some CGI programs to play with some UI ideas I've had. My hope is to get some feedback and perhaps help other people who might be trying to build gemapps.

The easiest case to solve for is forms with short, single-line values. You can get a lot of mileage out of just this, and it's something I've seen tackled in other places already. I'm not claiming novelty here, but I do see two general approaches that I think work and I'm unsure which is better. So here they are, side by side, for comparison:
